NEW WAVE (ART WKND)
New Wave engages and inspires the West Palm beach community and the world through public programs and residencies in support of local, national, and international under-represented artists.
New Wave Art Wknd (NWAW) is a non-commercial art weekend that supports New Wave’s residencies throughout the year. Featuring robust public programming, extraordinary private collection visits, panel conversations, and curated events, NWAW showcases the flourishing contemporary art scene in South Florida and offers a platform to discuss issues in contemporary art and broader society, in a place where these conversations often need to happen most.
Founded by Sarah Gavlak — alongside collaborators and an advisory board including Beth Rudin DeWoody, Franklin Sirmans, Isolde Brielmaier, Yvonne Force Villareal, Jane Holzer, Lisa Perry, and other prominent leaders in the field — New Wave offers artists an apartment, studio space and stipend to live and create with during their six weeks in West Palm Beach. The residencies also provide artists with exposure and support, placing their work in some of the nation's most prominent collections.

The term “New Wave” is used not only in the world of music — but also in various other fields to define a young and rising movement.

In 2023 the organization celebrated its’ 5th year which inspired the years folded map design, to guide public and private art events throughout West Palm Beach.
